The Attorney General’s Office has initiated an investigation against Jaison Eljadue Herrera, former manager of the ESE Hospital Pijiño del Carmen, in the department of Magdalena, for alleged excess of functions during his management between 2016 and 2019.

According to information provided by the Attorney General’s Office, Eljadue Herrera would have issued a resolution in which he coercively decreed the seizure and retention of resources for an amount greater than $1,000 million belonging to the EPS Salud Vida SA. It is alleged that this action was carried out without having competence or powers to do so.

The Delegate for Economy and Finance of the Attorney General’s Office stated that Eljadue Herrera could face disciplinary charges for the issuance and signing of the aforementioned resolution, which claimed resources for first and second level care services provided during the year 2019.

Furthermore, it is noted that part of the money seized was part of the income incorporated into the General Budget of the Nation and was destined for the health regime, so it could not be seized under any circumstances.

The Attorney General’s Office also highlighted that Jaison Eljadue Herrera had omitted the principle of non-seizure and confirmed that the ESCOs do not have the authority to carry out coercive processes against the EPS, the ARP and the ADRES.

Therefore, the apparent actions of Eljadue Herrera have been provisionally classified as a serious offense committed as a result of very serious fault, according to the control body.
