Asphalt pirates sentenced in Corrientes

The trial against a gang of asphalt pirates who “armed to the teeth” tried to rob a truck on National Route 14, near Alvear, shortly before Christmas 2017, has come to an end. attributed the murder of Commissioner Miguel Gerardo Duarte de Alvear in a raid to capture one of them known as “Pajarito” Da Rosa, killed at the scene.

Last week, at the Oral Criminal Court of Santo Tomé, five people, members of that gang, were convicted for attempting to rob a truck and for having shot at federal police who were passing by and did not hesitate to act. Meanwhile, one of the accused is a fugitive and could not be brought to trial.

Those convicted are: Ricardo Ariel Sarabia nicknamed “Ricky”; Joaquín Roberto Da Rosa, alias “Pájaro”, father of the despondent “Pajarito”; Jonatan Martín Velázque and Rodrigo Alejandro Olivera received 8 years in prison, while Leonardo Ramón Verón was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison. The person who did not appear in court is Gustavo Fontoura alias “Gusano.”
