The Juan 23 Educational Institution faces a serious crisis, with around 753 students deprived of desks and forced to take classes on the floor.
This desolate scenario has unleashed the indignation of parents, who took drastic measures to demand urgent improvements in infrastructure and sanitary conditions.
The lack of maintenance and deficiencies in sanitary batteries have aggravated the situation, putting the health and well-being of both students and educational and administrative staff at risk.
«It is unacceptable that our children are exposed to these precarious conditions. We demand that the authorities and control entities take immediate measures to guarantee a safe and conducive environment for learning,” declared a concerned parent.
Faced with this crisis, the mayor of Maicao, Miguel Felipe Aragón, committed to a short-term solution, allocating resources to carry out an exhaustive technical study to address the urgent needs of the institution.
«We assume the responsibility of improving the conditions of this institution and dignifying the educational work. Our commitment is real and tangible,” said the mayor.
However, the coordinator of the institution, María Marín, pointed out that the location problems existed long before the municipality acquired the facilities of the educational headquarters.
This prolonged situation has generated risks that directly affect more than 700 students, teachers and administrative staff.
The educational community of Maicao urgently awaits concrete actions from the authorities to resolve this crisis and guarantee a safe and dignified educational environment for all those involved.
