Widespread rains are expected between Wednesday and Thursday in La Guajira

An increase in the probability of rain in the department of La Guajira will occur this week, as a result of the proximity and presence of the Intertropical Confluence Zone to the north of the Colombian Caribbean region, plus a trough system and tropical disturbances.

According to the report released by Meteoguajira, for this Tuesday the weather conditions would be variable with mostly dry weather but with the probability of rain to the south and mountain systems.

However, it warns that between Wednesday and/or Thursday an increase in the probabilities of widespread rain is expected in the La Guajira peninsula in practically all areas (North, Middle, South and mountain systems) accompanied by electric shocks. Precipitation will extend over the weekend.

Likewise, it is stated that the decline of the El Niño Phenomenon continues, so much so that there are already areas on the sea surface where they are located at the neutral threshold.

It stands out that if the trend towards cooling advances, it would be between May and June when the transition to the neutral phase dominates the Equatorial Pacific. A point to take into account, considering that both the neutral phase and ‘La Niña’ are in favor of having a very active cyclonic season in the basin of the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

“The next and highly anticipated update from the Noaa Climate Prediction Center on Enos (it is a large-scale natural climate phenomenon that involves fluctuations in ocean temperature) will be on May 9, 2024 where the official culmination of the El Niño Phenomenon”, highlights Meteoguajira.
