Preventive Early Warning for the Los Ríos Region declared the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) this Wednesday.
The declaration was issued as a result of the meteorological events that are expected starting on Friday, May 3 and throughout the weekend.
According to the information provided by the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC), this Friday there will be normal to moderate rainfall on the coast, coastal mountain range, valley and foothills of the Los Ríos Region, which will continue on Saturday.
Meanwhile, normal to moderate snowfall will occur on Friday and Saturday in the mountain sectors of the region.
Danger of removals
On the other hand, the National Geology and Mining Service (SERNAGEOMIN), through the update of its Technical Minutes for Danger of Mass Removals, indicated that there is a moderate possibility of mass removals such as debris flow, alluvium, landslides and /or rock falls on the coast, the coastal mountain range, the longitudinal valley and the foothills.
The same possibility, but lower, could occur in the Andes mountain range of the region.
Hence, this Wednesday and in coordination with the Regional Presidential Delegation of Los Ríos, the Regional Directorate of SENAPRED decided to declare the Regional Preventive Early Warning due to a meteorological event, which will be in force from today until the conditions of the event warrant it.
The declaration of this alert is constituted as a state of strengthening surveillance, through precise and rigorous monitoring of risk conditions and the respective vulnerabilities associated with the threat, coordinating and activating the National Disaster Prevention and Response System (SINAPRED). ) in order to act in a timely manner in possible emergency situations.
