Several social and economic works aimed at improving the quality of life of the population were inaugurated in Holguín in greeting to May Day, with the presence of Salvador Valdés Mesa, member of the Political Bureau of the Party and Vice President of the Republic.
Together with Inés María Chapman, vice prime minister, the leader left open a charging center for electric tricycles belonging to the Holguín Taxi Agency No.2, a location equipped with 20 means that will be incorporated into the passenger transportation service in one of the most popular routes in the eastern city for a value of 10 pesos.
The Cuban Vice President was also able to appreciate the construction and equipment remodeling carried out in the Neonatology Room and the Polytrauma Guard Corps, belonging to the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Provincial University Hospital, works of great impact on health.
In honor of World Proletariat Day, important services were also reopened in the other two hospitals in the provincial capital: the “Lucía Íñiguez” Surgical Clinic and the “Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja” Pediatric Hospital.
In the care center for children, the political authorities of Holguín were able to visualize the quality with which the Microbiology Laboratory was completed, from where they work to improve medical care and the health status of the pediatric population through the monitoring and study of microbiological samples, either to observe antimicrobial resistance and to be aware of emerging microorganisms and the most frequent infections.
In the Clinical-Surgical Center, the construction work impacted a highly sensitive service such as that offered in the Dialysis and Hemodialysis Room, which was expanded and 18 modern pieces of equipment known as “artificial kidneys” were incorporated.
The eastern province also has a remodeled bakery located in the Pueblo Nuevo District and belonging to the Food Production and Distribution Company (Numa), which is now in better conditions for making bread for the basic basket.
Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the territory, Manuel Hernández Aguilera, Governor of Holguín, and Idalmis Serrano Gómez, top union leader of the province, also participated in the opening of the works.
