Governor of Magdalena and Minister of the Environment went out to march and did not attend to burning in Salamanca

It was the third day of the emergency due to the fire in the park Salamanca Island in which five outbreaks were active, and one of great magnitude, the largest, which caused the lifeguards to succumb.

Almost 72 hours passed this Wednesday morning since the fire started in the natural reserve and social networks were flooded in the first hours with dozens of photographs and videos showing the dawn in Barranquilla.

Zero zone published that there were already 30 hectares of park consumed by flames while in the capital of the Atlantic you could not see more than 50 meters away due to the thick smoke.

It is true that it is a problem that comes from decades of Presidents of the Republic, Ministers of the Environment, and Governors of Magdalena, and yet there is no solution.

Already in 2018, on the morning of November 20, on the Malecón del Río, the same President of that time, Ivan Duque, He witnessed and swallowed puffs of smoke while giving a speech when he said goodbye to the Antarctic expedition of the National Navy.

Previously, in 2015, a control and surveillance post had been delivered, which in the Park was going to be in charge of security and preventing burning, but nothing happened either.

And since nothing changes, everything remains the same as on that occasion.

Thus, this Wednesday on the agenda of Barranquilleros and Magdalenenses supporters of the Petro Government were the marches that were scheduled for the commemoration of International Labor Day.

The commitment of labor unions, teachers and political groups that support the National Government was valid, but not for those who should be the first to be in charge of the emergency that was presented in the Isla Salamanca Park: the Governor of Magdalena, Rafael Martínez; and the Minister of the Environment, Susana Muhamad.

These public servants, on the other hand, were seen leading the 1st marches. May in Santa Marta and Cali, respectively, while firefighters from Sitionuevo, Atlantic Civil Defense, National Parks personnel, Ponalsar, Air Force and National Navy, did what they could.

It seems that neither the Governor of Magdalena nor the Minister of the Environment were aware of the emergency that was simultaneously occurring in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Sitionuevo. Of course, neither of them felt in their nostrils what was being suffered in Barranquilla.

They had not spoken on their social networks about the issue nor had they made known their position regarding this environmental emergency.

The Magdalena press did echo the situation and the call that was made to the governor of the neighboring department.

Meanwhile, just at 6:23 in the afternoon the Minister wrote on her X account:

Regarding the situation of the Isla de Salamanca Park, air aid was arranged with the minister @Ivan_Velasquez_ and is acting, both firefighters and National Parks are working tirelessly to put out the fire 7 days ago, multiple spotlights are turning on and off.

The indifference of the Petro Government towards the Barranquilleros is so great that its Minister in charge of the issue and the Governor of Magdalena, an adept and defender of its policies, cared that the forest reserve and the natural park were consumed in flames and the health of the inhabitants. of the capital of the Atlantic was at risk due to the smoke and ash that has covered and flooded us for several days.
