We need to be stronger, more radical with our regulations and procedures, we reject all types of mistreatment and this in Valle del Cauca cannot continue to happen,” said Lizeth Parra, technical deputy director of management support at the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. del Valle, in a press release.

It should be remembered that Kiara, a pit bull breed dog, was rescued on April 11 along with her seven puppies, after a recording showed how the animals were beaten by their owner. Given this, The competent authorities went to the scene and rescued the creatures.

At that time, the Government of Valle del Cauca activated the Animal Protection and Welfare Route and followed up on the case to guarantee the rights of the furry animals. Also, he indicated that he would be aware of the decision made by the Jamundí Police Inspectorate. It is for this reason that, as soon as the new measure was known, the administration immediately spoke out and expressed his rejection.

“We ask the Jamundí Police Inspection to send to the Valle Government the clear report that shows how the decision was made in the case of Kiara, Jamundí’s dog,” he added. “We oppose this decision and will continue, as we have done until now, fighting to give Kiara and her puppies a protective home”, Parra concluded.

Likewise, different organizations and foundations that ensure the protection of animal rights, among them, Conexión Animal, asked the relevant authorities to “inform why Kiara was returned, what happened to the legal process and to her puppies.” They also asked for explanations as to why Kiara, according to her owner, was delivered in poor health conditions. In videos published on social networksthe dog is seen sick and vomiting.

For the moment, the Jamundí Police Inspectorate is expected to deliver a clear and detailed report, explaining the reasons behind this decision and what happened to the health of the dog and her puppies while they were in the transit home.
