The last week of April would have concluded with a 1% price drop in food and beverages, as measured by the consulting firm LCG in its weekly progress report.
According to the surveys, this is a decrease of 1.8 percentage points compared to the previous week, and in the last 4 weeks they reflect an increase of 2.3% average and 1.4% end to end.
In this way, the trend and attenuation of the price increase in food and beverages is confirmed and is in line with a sharp drop in the inflation core that, both the president Javier Milei as the economy minister Luis Caputoanticipated that there will be surprises when INDEC releases the April number on May 14.
The decrease, this week, was generalized in all the items that the consultancy measures except for Dairy and eggs. The biggest drops in the fifth week were in fruits with a strong seasonal factor with a drop of 6.8% while dairy and eggs advanced 1.9%.
In this way, LCG explained that the percentage of products that register weekly decreases is growing, while the percentage of products with increases is maintained: 28% and 26%, respectively in the last week.
Thus, the slowdown in monthly inflation continues, the report indicates. It subtracted 1 pp compared to the previous week, reducing to 2.3% monthly average (4 weeks) and 1.4% in the same period.
