A UH-60 helicopter of the National Army was hit by a gunshot while it was withdrawing from a military operation in Argelia, Cauca, official sources reported.

The mission in which the aircraft participated was part of a continued effort against dissidents led by someone known under the alias ‘Iván Mordisco’.

This confrontation focused specifically on the ‘Carlos Patiño’ structure, located in the Bolivian village of the aforementioned department.

At the time of the attack, the helicopter was transporting a minor who had been rescued by soldiers, in addition to the bodies of three alleged dissidents who were killed during the fighting.

After being hit, the crew implemented an emergency plan, executing maneuvers that allowed a safe landing at the Popayán military base, where all occupants were unharmed and the aircraft was subjected to a thorough inspection.

Tension remains in the region, as armed forces continue to be deployed in the area with the aim of stabilizing the situation and preventing future incidents.
