By boat: Frederick and Mary from Denmark moved to Fredensborg Castle

Frederick and Mary of Denmark have embarked for the first time as kings on the royal yacht to move their official residence to Fredensborg Castle.

Kings Frederick X and Mary of Denmark moved their official residence to the chancery of Fredensborg Castle on Thursday. They did so aboard the royal yacht, the HDMY Dannebrog, on a trip that also served to inaugurate the Danish sailing season.

The boarding took place at noon in Copenhagen and began with an honorary farewell with cannon salutes. From there the yacht has taken them to the port of Helsingor, where after the reception that will take place in this city they will depart for Fredensborg Castle to establish their residence in the chancery of this building.

This is the first time that Frederick in it.

The yacht was baptized by Queen Alexandrina in the early 1930s and since then the Danish royal family has used it to make sea voyages such as the one that Frederick and Mary will embark on in the coming days on the occasion of their long-awaited official tour of the Nordic countries, as well as to visit several municipalities on the coast of Denmark in summer.

Fredensborg Castle, where the kings lived in the first years of their marriage, offers a strategic location to visit all these places by boat and hence they will settle there until the end of August when they finish their cruises with a trip to Vejle .
