  • A trained crew makes it possible to provide adequate care to arboreal individuals.
  • The Dagma carries out the phytosanitary inspection of the 382,655 trees in the capital of Valle del Cauca.

Santiago de Cali, May 3, 2024

The Administrative Department of Environmental Management (Dagma) of Santiago de Cali continues to strengthen its commitment to the preservation and care of urban trees, with the aim of guaranteeing a greener and healthier environment for all Cali residents.

In this context, with the outstanding participation of the engineer and arborist Carlos Llanos, recognized as one of the most prestigious in the country, a special training day was held for the Dagma staff, in order to update their knowledge and skills in the management and maintenance of the nearly 300 notable trees in the city, as well as the more than 382 thousand trees that the capital of Valle del Cauca has.

During the theoretical-practical workshop, engineer Llanos provided valuable teachings on pruning techniques, efficient irrigation, disease prevention and safety, among other fundamental aspects for the optimal care of urban trees.

Likewise, he highlighted the importance of having qualified personnel to carry out arboreal medical treatments, derived from the phytosanitary evaluations carried out by the experts of the Dagma Flora Management group.

The event, which took place within the framework of the commemoration of “Tree Day”, served to celebrate the renewal of the inclusion of Santiago de Cali in the list of ‘Tree Cities of the World’ by the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO) and the Arbor Day Foundation.

From Dagma, we reaffirm our commitment to the protection and care of the urban trees of Santiago de Cali. We are convinced that a greener and healthier environment is essential for the well-being of our entire community.

Let’s take care of our trees together and build a more sustainable future for everyone!
