San José, May 3 (EFE).- The soccer teams of Costa Rica and Uruguay will play a friendly match on May 31 at the National Stadium in San José that will serve the Central American team to complete their preparation with a view to the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, on June 6 against Saint Kitts and Nevis.

After its debut at home against Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Costa Rican team, led by Argentine Gustavo Alfaro, will play its second World Cup qualifying match on June 9 in Granada.

The friendly match against Uruguay will be played at 8:00 p.m. (02:00 GMT on June 1), reported the Costa Rican Football Federation (FCRF).

Of the last seven matches between Uruguayans and Costa Ricans, the Central Americans have won two and the South Americans two. The other three games ended tied.

The Tricolor and the Celeste also enter the final stretch of their preparation for the Copa América, which will bring together teams from 16 countries in the United States.

On June 24, Costa Rica will debut against Brazil, and then will face Paraguay and Colombia.

Uruguay will begin its participation in the Copa América on June 23 against Panama, and then will face Bolivia and the United States.
