Meanwhile, the director of Semana Magazine, Vicky Dávila, revealed through her X account, the distressing messages that soldiers in Cauca send her and that also ask her to send urgent support to the area.

“I am a soldier. Right now in Algeria, Cauca, there are units in combat. They already have dead and wounded. They are reporting that they have not been provided with air support,” says one of the soldiers in the chat with the journalist.

“They are giving orders to evade and escape. Let them leave the dead and wounded lying around,” reads another chat.

It is important to remember that Cauca is one of the departments where the ceasefire between the FARC dissidents led by alias ‘Iván Mordisco’ and the Government of President Petro has been broken. This occurred after the criminal group murdered a community leader and also tried to forcibly recruit a minor.
