At the Metropolitan Aqueduct of Bucaramanga we have a commitment to life, to the well-being and to the development of an entire region.

This has led us to be recognized as one of the aqueducts with the best indicators in the country in terms of continuity, quality and availability of water resources.

Thanks to this, during the El Niño phenomenon, we managed to maintain continuity of service in Bucaramanga, Floridablanca and Girón, without the need to apply rationing measures or disincentives.

Why were rationing measures not implemented in the metropolitan area?

1. We have been leading and developing processes aimed at the sustainability of the resource for years:

  • 12,276 hectares protected.
  • Payments for Environmental Services: Conservation and Restoration Areas: 400 hectares in the municipality of Charta, 600 hectares in the municipality of Tona and 3,106 hectares through the Mi Páramo Project.
  • Improvement of the sanitary conditions of homes in the rural sector: 121 built and 59 with maintenance.

2. We have prepared ourselves with a solid infrastructure; We have a redundant system and a reservoir with a storage capacity of 17 million cubic meters that represents insurance in the operation.

3. We have efficiently managed the water resource and that is why we are the most efficient aqueduct in the country. We implement a management model that allows us to have the lowest water losses nationwide.
