The ‘la Caixa’ Foundation has opened the Support for Creation’24 call. Production, which aims to provide financial and professional help to artists so that they can produce their works of art. This initiative is aimed at artists and groups of visual artists over 18 years of age of Spanish or Portuguese nationality or residence who have an unpublished project to carry out or that is already underway, in collaboration with an external agent – such as a museum or other type of artistic institution–, and that needs to be produced. However, applicants must have exhibited their work on at least three occasions.

Biennial in nature, this aid program is part of the aforementioned social entity’s commitment to contemporary art, which includes its prestigious Contemporary Art Collection ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, with 40 years of history, as well as the Support for Creation call , with Comisart, started in 2012 and aimed at promoting the careers of young commissioners; in addition to the current one dedicated to production, which began in 2018 and which this year reaches its fourth edition.

In this way, Support for Creation’24. Production provides support to artists or visual arts collectives in Spain and Portugal to develop the production of an unpublished work of art that will later be disseminated, either through an exhibition at the headquarters of the external agent that collaborates in the project, or through other means of dissemination. The financial support of the call includes two parts: the fees and the production of the work, which can be carried out over two years after winning the call. Furthermore, when the selected works have already been produced, the advisory committee of the Contemporary Art Collection of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation will assess their possible incorporation into the Collection.

The selection of the winners will be carried out by a jury made up of three professionals from the art world and a representative of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation. Applicants who want to present their projects to this call may do so until June 7. The list of winners, which will be a maximum of 15, will be made public on September 20. The complete rules can be consulted in the Calls section of the ‘la Caixa’ website or at https://fundacionlacaixa.org/es/apoyo-creacion-produccion.
