Within the framework of an investigation initiated in 2023 for Illicit Drug Trafficking and Violation of the Weapons Law called “Operation Red Fantasma II”, carried out by detectives from the Brianco Iquique in conjunction with the Alto Hospicio Prosecutor’s Office, the investigators developed a thorough work where, through the analysis of information, surveillance and police intelligence work, they managed to determine a network dedicated to these crimes.

According to the above, it was established that the criminal modus operandi consisted of coordinating the acquisition and importation of drugs in the northern part of the country, which was subsequently transported in a truck from the Tarapacá Region, to finally be hidden and stored. in the city of Rancagua, where the drugs were received by this criminal organization, who later distributed them and collected them again in different “safe houses used for collection” in the Metropolitan region, to be dosed and sold to drug traffickers in the capital.

The operation ends with 6 people arrested, all of legal age and of Dominican, Colombian and Bolivian nationality, the seizure of 1 ton 600 kilos of drugs, including cannabis, cocaine hydrochloride and cocaine base, 2 firearms suitable for shooting, 9 mm ammunition, 4 vehicles, cash, among other things.

These results generated by the Anti-Narcotics and Organized Crime Brigade (Brianco) Iquique, removed nearly 2 million doses from circulation, with a total value in the illicit market that is over 8 billion pesos. Allowing the arrest of the leader of a highly complex criminal structure, and those who operated as its operational arms, which included Colombian, Dominican and a Bolivian citizens.
