The voting acts will be coordinated and directed by the presidents of the corresponding municipal electoral councils and by a deputy designated by the Council of State for each district, by agreement 166-X of that body, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic no. 19 Extraordinary of 2024, on April 5.
In the case of Villa Clara, the election is called after the position of provincial governor becomes vacant, due to the promotion of colleague Alberto López Díaz as Minister of the Food Industry, in the month of February, Ramos Rojas added.
The Electoral Law establishes the requirements to hold both positions: to be a Cuban citizen by birth and not have any other citizenship, to have reached 30 years of age, to reside in the province and to be in full enjoyment of their civil and political rights.
The elected provincial governor and vice-governor will take office before the representative designated by the Council of State, on the date set by it, within a period of 21 days following the election. Subsequently, the new Provincial Council of People’s Power was established.
Simultaneously, the election of the aforementioned positions takes place today in the provinces of Matanzas, Santiago de Cuba and Cienfuegos.
