The Government announced this Saturday a reduction in tariffs for the import of refrigerators, washing machines, tires and plastic supplies, with the aim of promoting competition in the domestic market and reducing prices for consumers.
The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, made the announcement through his X social network account, where he detailed that the tariff for refrigerators and washing machines will go from 35% to 20%. This will equalize the level of tariffs with the Mercosur member countries.
In the case of tires, the tariff will be reduced from 35% to 16%, which, according to Adorni, “will represent a relief for transport and freight companies, as well as for consumers.”
Likewise, tariffs on the main plastic inputs will be reduced from 12.6% to 6%. This measure seeks to lower the production costs of goods that use these inputs, such as food packaging, personal hygiene products, household appliances and toys, among others.
Adorni highlighted that this policy will imply “better prices and a higher level of competition in the market, for the benefit of all consumers.”
This measure adds to the series of recent initiatives by the Government to make access to foreign currency more flexible and stimulate the import of basic consumer products.
