Thieves stole a bicycle last Thursday in the Federal Park area of the city of Santa Fe, but the vehicle was recovered the next day through a ruse, at the intersection of López y Planes Avenue and Pellegrini Boulevard.

At Quintana Street, the bike was stolen from a young man, but it actually belonged to his mother-in-law. Hours after the incident, the woman searched social media and was surprised to see that her vehicle was already offered for sale.

The family then notified the police, at the 11th Police Station, and an operation was quickly planned that was carried out during the siesta hours on Friday, in front of the Club Atlético Unión.

There a meeting was agreed between the “sellers” and the “customers”, who obviously at no time said they were the owners.

It was what is called “controlled delivery”, supervised by plainclothes police, ordered by the prosecutor in the case, Dr. Arturo Haidar.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., the suspects appeared on the scene in a blue VW Bora car. From the trunk they took the parts of the bicycle and began to assemble it with tools.

The bicycle that was recovered after the ambush.

It was then that the police burst in and arrested the criminals, who were taken to police headquarters, accused – in principle – of “cover-up.”

The serial numbering of the two-wheel drive coincided with what appeared in the documentation provided by the owner.

Inside the vehicle of those arrested, the uniformed officers found four turned off cell phones and 87 thousand pesos.
