“I have seen how they are taken prisoners,” Ocean Gao, a young woman of Asian descent, living in New York, who was yesterday on the university steps in Havana, told the press on behalf of her fellow fighters, who are camping today in the universities of the United States against the Zionist regime and in support of the Palestinian people.

“I was at that first demonstration at Yale University and saw that the police arrested more than 100 young people for demanding public condemnation of the genocide of the Palestinian people,” he tells us.

Ocean visits Cuba with the group Hands off Cuba, with whom he participated in the celebrations for International Workers’ Day, along with 50 other young Americans.

They have all witnessed the brutal repression of the police in their country to evict them from university campuses during demands for an end to connections with budgets from Israel and investments from companies that support the war.

The students do not want to see more deaths and injuries, nor the destruction of educational centers and universities in Gaza.

There she was on the warm Havana afternoon, at an event called by the Young Communist League and the Federation of University Students in support of the Palestinian people. There was also teacher Belkis Yaisy Zulueta, who never called any repressive body to evict her students and expressed solidarity for the relatives of the more than 34,000 victims, the thousands of injured and missing in the Gaza Strip.

The student leader at the Faculty of Stomatology, David Hernández García, said that the young Cubans mobilized spontaneously and from a call of less than 48 hours, because the Palestinian people deserve to be defended from imperialist aggression.

Antonio Santana Cruz, a second-year student at the University of Computer Sciences, expressed himself in the same way when demanding peace in the face of the imperialist war for colonialism.

Their voices vibrated with each speaker at the event who reaffirmed the will to be in solidarity because “whoever does not have the courage to denounce a genocide cannot be called a revolutionary,” they warned.
