Through his X account (formerly Twitter), President Gustavo Petro suspended the transfers of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, UNGRD, to the municipality of Girón, in Santander, and two autonomous corporations, Corpourabá and Corantioquia, in Antioquia.

The announcement came in the middle of corruption scandal in the Ungrd for the alleged diversion of money used, apparently, to pay bribes to congressmen, a fact reported by the former deputy director of that entity, Sneyder Pinillaand that splashes the president of the Congress and Senate, Iván Name, along with the president of the House of Representatives, Andrés Calle.

“All transfers pre-established by the UNGRD to Corpourabá, Corantioquia and the municipality of Girón are suspended. We will seek to ensure that these monies reach the disaster zones,” Petro declared in his X account.

The national leader assured that any official of the National Government who is involved in this scandal of the Ungrd, will be separated from the administration, which already cost him his position Sandra Ortiz who was the advisor for the regions, already Andrés Idárraga, Secretary of Transparency.

In the last few hours, screenshots of chats between Ortiz and the former director of the Unit, Olmedo López, have also been known, in which they were allegedly organizing the delivery of the money. Both said that they will present this evidence to the Prosecutor’s Office or to the organizations that require it.
