NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s golf team closed the 2023-24 season with a 6.5-3.5 victory over St. Olaf College in the program’s Rusty Putter Match. The teams partook in match-play competition at Northfield Golf Club.

This was the first time the Rusty Putter Match has been held since 2019 when St. Olaf prevailed 13-5.

This year’s contest included a trio of four-ball competitions as well as seven head-to-head matches. Three sets of teammates challenged their counterparts in a four-ball match in addition to simultaneously splitting up for two singles matches.

Former Carleton head coach Jerry Erickson was given the “Rusty Putter” many years ago at Prestwick Golf Course in Scotland. It became the traveling trophy for the yearly matchup between the two schools.
