The three hospitals in the city of Teruel – Obispo Polanco, San José and San Juan de Dios Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center –as well as five health centers of the province, Teruel Ensanche and Utrillas, in the Teruel sector, and Alcañiz, Andorra and Caspe, in the Alcañiz sector, has starting this Wednesday, May 1, with security guards, Monday to Friday, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. the next day and 24 hours a day on weekends.
The manager of the health sectors of Teruel and Alcañiz, Pedro Eced, He explained that the Obispo Polanco Hospital already had security and now the hospitals of San José and San Juan de Dios are added. Eced has assured that this measure has been received “very well” on the part of the users “because of what it will mean for the safety of both the patients and the professionals of these health centers.”
The manager has detailed that this is an action that is part of the security plan that the Department of Health and the Aragonese Health Service are implementing. Specifically, the surveillance service It will increase this spring in around twenty centers in the three provinces.
In the case of the province of Teruel, it will mean having 24 security workers, who will cover the different shifts. Pedro Eced added that other measures are applied, such as the training in coping techniques against violent behavior and control of verbal attacks.
In addition, it is being studied to improve the safety of professionals who travel to homes “since it has been one of the actions most requested by health workers.”
The final objective of the different actions is to improve the protection of patients and professionals, in the latter case, so that they carry out their functions with the best safety conditions and with the purpose of reducing the number of attacks they suffer.
