San Luis, Santiago de Cuba, May 6.— As part of the established work system, the member of the Central Committee and the Council of State, Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, First Secretary of the Party in the province of Santiago de Cuba, held an exchange with the political coordinators, presidents of popular councils (neighborhoods) and leaders of the mass organizations of this municipality.

These meetings – which will be systematic from now on – have the purpose of providing those present with the necessary tools to perfect the political-ideological work, based on the responsibility that each one assumes in the area of action where he or she performs.

Present at the meeting, the Governor of the province, Manuel Falcón, offered extensive information about the government’s strategy to fulfill its role as a public servant.

He addressed topics such as attention to vulnerabilities, the elderly alone, pricing policy, the distribution of agricultural products and water supply, among others.

He insisted on the priority of following up on everyday problems to minimize the effects of the economic crisis and the deficit of products, fundamentally, of the regulated basic basket.

In this sense, Johnson Urrutia called for strengthening communication and information channels for the population, with the appearances of cadres and managers in local radio programming and through official sites on social networks.

Topics such as population aging, the low availability of cash in banks and ATMs, the collection of solid waste, the construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of homes, the confrontation with crime, illegalities, and a phenomenon that is emerging were also discussed. In recent times: the tendency of some parents to use their minor children to market products on public roads, instead of sending them to school to study.

“Of special attention,” said Beatriz Johnson, “is the actions of the revolutionaries to counteract the enemy’s activity in the current scenario of the Unconventional War.” In that sense, she added: “No scenario can be wasted to communicate a political message, of faith and hope to the population, and for that it is necessary to focus even more on the role of student organizations and the Young Communist League.”

Comrade Zaida Correa Gutiérrez, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party, and the highest authorities of the Party and the Government of San Luis were also present at the meeting.
