The Justice and Security Commission of the Legislature of Tierra del Fuego calls on Human Rights organizations to register in the registry to renew the members of the “Committee against Torture”, until May 31, 2024.

The presentation of background and documentation will be in person at the Ticket Desk of the Legislative Secretariat of the Provincial Legislature –located at 1441 San Martín Street – while remotely it will be by email [email protected] with the subject: “HUMAN RIGHTS NGO REGISTRY, PROVINCIAL LAW 857”.

To apply, organizations They must present a regular member and a substitute; in addition to proving the background they have in the matter with at least one year of experience.

Furthermore, they request that all members of the Committee must have a recognized track record in the promotion and protection of Human Rights, except the representatives of the Legislative Branch, and remember that they will remain in office for two years but may be renewable.

The Committee will be made up of three representatives of Human Rights organizations who demonstrate experience and knowledge of the subject and who have not served as political officials in the last two years. Therefore, the members of Human Rights organizations will be proposed by them and approved by the majority of the members of the Permanent Advisory Commission No. 6.

Human Rights Organizations are summoned, in accordance with article 13 of provincial Law 857, for REGISTRATION in the Provincial Registry for the purposes of renewing the members of the Committee for Evaluation of the Monitoring and Application of the Convention against Torture and other Treatments or Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Punishments. Commission No. 6 of the Provincial Legislature will accredit organizations that meet the requirements set out in article 4:

“The Committee will be made up of three (3) representatives of Human Rights organizations who demonstrate experience and knowledge of the subject and who have not served as political officials in the course of the last two (2) years (…) The members of organizations of Human Rights will be proposed by them and approved by the majority of the members of the Permanent Advisory Commission No. 6.

All members of the Committee must have a recognized track record in the promotion and protection of Human Rights, except the representatives of the Legislative Branch. They will last two (2) years in their functions and may be renewable.”

Organizations that make nominations must do so with one (1) Regular member and one (1) Alternate member; and prove the background they have in the subject with at least one (1) year of experience.

The presentation of background and documentation will be UNTIL MAY 31, 2024 inclusive, in person at the Ticket Desk of the Legislative Secretariat of the Provincial Legislature, located at 1441 San Martín Street and in digital form by email [email protected]SUBJECT: “HUMAN RIGHTS NGO REGISTRATION, PROVINCIAL LAW 857”.
