On 53rd Street and 27th Street in the Sotomayor neighborhood of Bucaramanga, two individuals were lynched by the community after allegedly committing a robbery against a woman around 4:00 in the afternoon on Monday, May 6.

Witnesses indicated that the two men, who were traveling on a motorcycle, shaved a woman’s purse, causing minor injuries when they dragged her. The community, which witnessed the events, managed to arrest the alleged thieves and burn their motorcycle.

Uniformed members of the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police arrived at the sector to mediate between the angry mob and the alleged robbers.

Bucaramanga Fire Departments controlled the fire emanating from the motorcycle incinerated by the people who witnessed the theft.

It is unknown if the alleged criminals were captured by the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police. So far, the authorities have not commented on this fact.

Streak of thefts by ‘motothieves’
On this Monday afternoon, another violent event occurred in the San Francisco neighborhood of Bucaramanga. This time two subjects, carrying a traumatic weapon, injured a young man who resisted a robbery. The incident occurred specifically on 14th Street and 26th Street.

The victim was hit on two occasions by the assailants who fled on a motorcycle. The Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police is on the trail of these subjects, through the area’s security camera system.

The young man, who was taken by the community to a care center, is out of danger.

These events occurred hours before the mayor of Bucaramanga, Jaime Andrés Beltrán, prohibited the circulation of motorcycles from midnight to 4:00 in the morning.

According to the president, the main focus of the measure is to combat insecurity. “The battle against crime needs decisions, and we do not hesitate to make them,” he said in his X account.
