“I am assuming a risk of death with great courage,” said Olmedo López before his appointment at the Prosecutor’s Office.

“From the first moment I informed the country, the Colombians and my family as a witness, that I was going to tell them the whole truth. The country and the Colombians expect my answers and I said that I was going to tell them and I will continue giving them. The only thing I have asked for is security guarantees for my family and me. I also said that there are many people who must give explanations, which I will mention in due course,” said the former director before his diligence with the Prosecutor’s Office.

In his new statement, López assured that he trusts in the institutions of the State. “To the extent that I decide to break my silence, even when my previous friends today demonize me and mock me, using the microphone through their friends. “Letting it be seen that what I am doing is a kind of spectacle when in reality I am assuming a risk of death with great courage and gallantry.”

López assured that telling the truth is difficult, and that although it has not come out publicly, it is already the subject of countless comments and threats or accusations.

“Many see me as a traitor and I want to tell them that 32 years ago we started a fight that sought to transform the history of Colombia for the better, you and I know it, and along the way we made mistakes. We cannot repeat bad practices and I regret it and that is why from the first moment I decided to cooperate, because we must be a true example of change. I asked the State institutions for guarantees, God for wisdom and my family for strength, the one that united us and has characterized us during 32 years of struggle,” he reiterated.

It is worth mentioning that after the accusations of the former deputy director of the UNGRD, Sneyder Pinilla, were made public, which affected the president of the Senate, Iván Name, the president of the Chamber, Andrés Calle, and the former advisor for the regions, Sandra Ortiz, López would have made a pronouncement.

At the time, Pinilla said that the aforementioned officials were given 4,000 million pesos to “collaborate” with the approval of Petro’s reforms. This money would have come from the controversial contract for the La Guajira tank cars.

There he revealed that his boss, Olmedo López, asked him to distribute the respective amount of bills.

“I never thought that this moment in my life was so definitive, that’s why I made this decision that will end up pushing those young people not to make mistakes like ours and to continue fighting. I don’t want you to be discouraged, that’s why I made this decision freely and after much reflection, Madam Attorney General of the Nation, expect the truth from me, and only the truth,” the former official said.
