Event in which 36 Caribbean leaders will participate.

Cormagdalena’s priority is to co-finance the implementation of productive projects that are linked to the Magdalena River with the intention of benefiting and supporting the riverside territories.

The third Summit of Leaders of the River, was convened by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Río Grande del Magdalena, will be attended by 36 municipal mayors who are associated with the departments of Magdalena, Atlántico, Sucre and Cesar, which will take place this Wednesday, May 8 in the city of Santa Marta.

The union of mayors will attend with the company of the Planning Secretariat with the intention of reaching agreements with the entities of the National Government, where they will be able to establish the different themes of strengthening, use and preservation of the Magdalena River.

This type of event has been taking place in the Upper River Basin with the departments of Huila and Cauca in which 24 mayors participated. Likewise, it was held in the Lower Basin in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Mompox, where 33 mayors from the Caribbean Region were present.

The summit will be attended by all the coastal leaders of the upper, middle and lower basins of the Magdalena, in which they are part of the Cormagdalena action plan and the strategies that allow the leaders and officials to have more participation in the territories and their jurisdiction. In addition, they require the collaboration of municipal authorities and residents so that the different projects can be carried out.
