“Contradictions between versions of the Army and Cesfam must be investigated” – Radio Universo

The presidential delegate of Arica and Parinacota, Ricardo Sanzana, provided details, in Universo al Día, about the situation of conscripts who have left military service after the tragic death of Franco Vargas during a military training in Putre. According to Sanzana, “the number that we know is the one that the Army actually made public yesterday in terms of approximately 114 young people who would be leaving military service.”

Regarding the contradictions between the versions provided by the Army and Cesfam about the moment of Franco Vargas’ death, the delegate pointed out that “If there are contradictions in the versions, of course that has to be part of a rigorous investigation.”

Regarding the health status of the hospitalized conscripts, Sanzana reported that “the two other conscripts who were transferred to the Military Hospital would already be in a position to leave the hospital.” In addition, he clarified that the serious symptoms are due to bacterial infections and not hypothermia as had initially been speculated.
