Hostinger leaves Cuba and suspends its web hosting services

For weeks, users on social networks have been warning of the departure of Hostinger, one of the main web hosting providers in the world, from several countries sanctioned by the United States, including Cuba. This is now a reality, according to the media.

This May 6, a user warned the following: “Hostinger has just suspended its services in several countries and will not be able to renew, update, or purchase new services. This will remain in effect from now on and in some they will have service until June 10, 2024″.

It added that the blockade affects the following countries: Belarus, Cuba, Iran, DPRK (North Korea), Russian Federation (including the occupied Ukrainian territories), Syria and Venezuela.

“It is now official, so if you have a service with them and you are from these countries, check your email, they have already sent the notice. You must migrate to another server. Additional verifications or restrictions may apply to services purchased in specific countries as provided by international authorities,” this specialist advised.

Hostinger leaves Cuba and leaves them without services

From the independent media Diario de Cuba, they also confirmed the departure of this supplier from Cuba. “Users hosted at Hostinger with an address in Cuba will no longer be able to renew or update existing services, nor will they have the possibility of purchasing new ones,” reads an email to which they had access.

According to the website trends.builtwith, in Cuba more than 60 sites were hosted on Hostinger, including several government sites associated with Tourism, such as the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, Finca Bella Vista Contramaestre, Dbrujas, etc. They would add up to a total of close to 63 sites now affected by this departure.

“We are doing this because we are determined to maintain the highest ethical and legal levels in the practice of our businesses,” the supplier stated about the decision made.
