The Comptroller General of the Republic, Carlos Mario Zuluaga, announced that will take on the investigation into the construction of the elevated bridge on 60th Street with Carrera Quinta de Ibagué. (See: Mayor of Ibagué removed a question about the 60th Street bridge)

According to the official, a preliminary investigation was opened, since The project was suspended more than two months ago by Mayor Johana Aranda and its future is still in limbo.

“We have ordered the opening of a preliminary investigation to be able, first, to assume responsibility for the review of the resources of the 60 bridge that interconnects with the Fifth,” said Zuluaga.

This project has a cost of $39,000 million and should have been built by December 28, 2023, according to the contract awarded by former Secretary of Infrastructure Sharon Guzmán. However, -to date-, it is only 5% complete.

“This important investment, which today has a delay and suspension of the execution of the contract, has caused the Comptroller’s Office to assume responsibility for these resources,” explained the Comptroller.

And he added: “we ordered a preliminary investigation to determine the reasons why these resources already invested from the local order are at risk because the object of this contract has not been satisfactorily completed.”

A few months ago, the mayor of Ibagué, Johana Aranda, dismissed a question asked by one of the journalists from EL OLFATO, who asked him about the future of this contract.

“We are doing the due process with the control entities and I am sure that the people of Ibaguera will be satisfied with the decision made. We are going to do things well, for the good of the city, for the good of the projects that we have to deliver to Ibagué and I want to reassure the people of Ibague that support from the control entities was requested to take the best of the decisions,” he said at the time.

However, this editorial team learned that it was the Attorney General’s Office that demanded that it report what it was doing to resolve this contractual mess that it received from the administration of former mayor Andrés Hurtado, due to the silence he had maintained since the beginning of his government.
