The Ibagué Metropolitan Police, through the Criminal Investigation Section (SIJIN), managed to capture Brayan David Pinto Orozco, 25 years old, as allegedly responsible for the homicide of Oscar Diaz Ferrin, 28 years old, which occurred on August 21, 2023 in the La Candelaria urbanization, commune 7 of the city.
According to investigations, Pinto Orozco, along with another individual, was walking along Ambalá Avenue, apparently under the influence of alcohol or similar substances, when they ran into Díaz Ferrin, with whom they had personal disputes. After an initial exchange of words, Diaz tried to avoid a conflict and fled, but was caught by the two men, who brutally attacked him.
The attack left Diaz with five head wounds caused by a sharp weapon, as well as an additional wound, possibly caused by a rock. The rapid intervention of the SIJIN made it possible to collect evidence that pointed to Pinto Orozco as the alleged perpetrator of this crime within a period of three months.
After presenting the evidence collected to the prosecutor’s office, the Seventh Municipal Criminal Judge issued an arrest warrant against Pinto Orozco, who must now face charges for the murder of Diaz Ferrin. The captured person has been sent to a prison center where he will remain under security measure.
Colonel Diego Edixon Mora Muñoz, deputy commander of the Ibagué Metropolitan Police, highlighted the importance of this capture in the resolution of a case of violence that claimed the life of a young man. In addition, he reiterated the need to strengthen education and citizen culture as tools to prevent and reduce the incidence of violent acts in the city.
