Parade of Comparsas of Unimagdalena captive the streets of Santa Marta

lhe Cultural Week of the University of Magdalena in its 24th edition, decorated the different streets of the city with dances and colors that represent the culture, diversity and talent that characterizes this university community.

A temperature typical of this region of the country was not an impediment for students, teachers and officials to transmit their joy to the sound of the different rhythms and show their artistic expressions to all who came to see them.

32 troupes alluding to folklore, but also futuristic, opened the twenty-fourth Cultural Week “A trip to the future 2062” which began this May 6 and will end on the 10th of this month to celebrate Unimagdalena’s 62nd birthday.

At this beginning of the university celebration, the rector Pablo Vera Salazar took the opportunity to invite everyone to enjoy this week, but also to take care of the campus, to comply with internal traffic regulations regarding vehicles, among others.

“We want us to continue preserving the sense of belonging that has characterized us. We must celebrate in harmony with respect for animals, nature and our fellow human beings,” was the message from the Chief Executive of this Institution.

In that sense, among the protagonists who adorn this celebration are the students and one of them was José Ángel Yepes Madera, who studies Industrial Engineering in the sixth semester and highlighted the variety of dances during the parade of troupes and imagined 2062, as a modern year and with many updates.

The university community highlighted the security that was provided to the participants during the parade, the logistics and the participation of professors and officials, who joined this great party that will last five days.

The talented girl from the Bachelor of Technology program, Jennifer Fuenmayor, paraded in a costume alluding to the movie Back to the Future and sent a message to the community of this Institution to accompany each of the scheduled events.

Special guests such as the Ciénaga Infotep, the Creo Unimagdalena zonal centers, Comprehensive Child Care Center, Santa Marta Metropolitan Police, among others. And for the first time the Volunteer troupe of this Alma Mater participates.

Marena Laguna Núñez, student of the sixth semester Bachelor of Chemistry program, hopes that by 2062 the University of Magdalena will continue to be the benchmark in the Caribbean and praised the participation of the faculties, especially that of Educational Sciences.
