During the night of Tuesday, a tragic traffic accident shook the quiet sector of Villonaco in the city of Loja. A gray vehicle violently collided with a fuel tanker, leaving one person dead and another injured, while the driver of the heavy vehicle was detained by the authorities.

The incident caused an interruption of vehicular traffic that lasted for two hours, while firefighters responded due to fear of a possible fuel leak from the tanker. Fortunately, it was found that the tank was empty, thus avoiding a more dangerous situation.
Agents of the Investigation Service Traffic Accidents and the Traffic Operational Control Unit They traveled to the scene of the accident to begin the corresponding investigations. According to the agents’ first hypotheses, the vehicle with license plate PBK 4932, which was heading from Catamayo to Loja, would have invaded the opposite lane, causing the collision with the tanker with license plate LCL-0464.
Inside the small car, the lifeless body of Ángel Ricardo Castillo Pool, presumably the driver’s companion. Additionally, during the inspection of the gray vehicle, the agents discovered a briefcase containing a considerable sum of money, the exact amount of which has not yet been revealed.
The vehicles involved were transferred to the Traffic Operational Control Unit for a more detailed inspection, while the victim’s body was taken to the Forensic Center to perform the corresponding autopsy.
