The effector’s Infection Control team promoted the activity that included interactive games and stands for patients and staff.

The specialist in infection control and epidemiology, with a degree in nursing Natalia Herreracommented that this year, like every year, they joined the campaign for World Day, disseminating and encouraging the five moments of hand hygiene.

“Our hospital is committed to working on prevention every day to reduce infections associated with health care. This year, like every year, the WHO launches a motto that points to knowledge, therefore, our call focused on recreational question and answer activities, to be able to assess how much we know about hand hygiene,” said Herrera.

Following this line, the nursing graduate highlighted that work is done every day on the hand hygiene program, through constant training of health personnel, especially in the specific technique: “While on May 5, the activities are more directed to the health personnel, on October 15 it aims more at the entire community. We work all week with training within the health services, providing activities to strengthen this practice, which is very important.”

The infection control team is made up, in addition to Natalia Herrera, Matías Nieva and Sabina Bulacio. The head of the Infectious Diseases Service of the Hospital Centro de Salud, doctor Mario Enrique Rayathanked the governing body of the effector for the support and help provided, as well as the Minister of Public Health.

“There is a great global trend towards intrasocomial infections due to multiresistant genes, so Siprosa has an infection control program that works throughout the area at the provincial level. “Ours is a teaching hospital and it is essential to raise awareness not only of the staff, but also of the community in general, about handwashing,” he added.
