The Comptroller’s Office begins a thorough investigation into 62 unfinished works in La Guajira

The Departmental Comptroller’s Office of La Guajira has undertaken a thorough investigation into a total of 62 unfinished works in the Department, accumulating an estimated value of 231 billion pesos. These constructions, in various states of abandonment, represent a challenge for the administration of public resources in the region.

The Departmental Comptroller, Bienvenido Mejía, has indicated that the municipalities of Maicao, Hatonuevo and Riohacha top the list with the highest number of unfinished works. In an effort to address this worrying situation, the Comptroller’s Office has made a request to the new mayors to incorporate these works into municipal development plans.

Among the works subject to inventory and supervision are road, educational and public service infrastructure projects, which have experienced unjustified delays, generating concern among the Guajira population. The Comptroller has reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability, ensuring that the investigation will be carried out exhaustively and objectively.

The expectation is that the results of these investigations shed light on possible irregularities that have prevented the completion of the works, and that the necessary measures be adopted to guarantee their prompt completion.

Both citizens and local authorities are awaiting the findings of this investigation, hoping that responsibilities will be established and corrections implemented to prevent future cases of corruption and inefficient management in La Guajira.
