Government inaugurated Agroindustrial Center in Santa Marta with an investment of $2.4 billion

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, in alliance with the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Marta for Magdalena and the Magdalena Regional SENAlaunched the proposal for the first Zasca Agroindustrial Reindustrialization Center in Santa Marta.

The project, which had a investment of $2,397 million and was led by President Gustavo Petro, will benefit 40 entrepreneurs and MSMEs of the popular economy, linked to the mango production chain.

These leaders will have access to specialized machinery and innovation processes. In addition, the proposal will direct the processes of making jams, pulps, dehydrated fruit, among other products, to increase productivity and generate employment.

The head of the portfolio, Germán Umañastated that these “centers allow us to promote the popular and community economy, as well as the links between micro, small and medium-sized companies in the areas in which they are established“.

“This first Zasca Agroindustrial Reindustrialization Center marks a milestone for the region and the country. Taking into account that Santa Marta presents an average of 677 tons of mango production per year“said Hernán Ceballos, general manager of iNNpulsa Colombia, and added that through this space there will be new opportunities to enter new markets,”thanks to innovation, specialized technical support, the use of machinery and business strengthening tools“.

For her part, Silvia Elena Medina Romero, executive president of the Santa Marta Chamber of Commerce for Magdalena, said that the project will forge a prosperous and sustainable future. “From the Chamber of Commerce we reaffirm our commitment and We hope that this Center contributes to promoting employment and reducing poverty and inequality in Magdalena.“.

According to the Ministry, the strategy of the Zasca Reindustrialization Centers has an investment of $117,290 million, during the four-year period, with 96 centers in the national territory, which will seek to reach more than 16,100 beneficiariesincluding productive units and/or MSMEs, young people and people deprived of liberty.
