In the municipality of Los Patios, in the metropolitan area of Cúcuta, the second lieutenant of the Police, Carlos Eduardo Contreras Manosalva, 24 years old, was murdered in the middle of a shootout that occurred between uniformed officers and subjects who apparently intended to commit a crime. homicide.

The events occurred on the night of this Tuesday, May 7, when the uniformed officers of the CAI, Betania, where Contreras was commander, answered a call to 123 alerting of the presence of armed men in the La Campiña sector. Upon arriving at the scene, the police began a chase for the suspects against whom there was a shootout in the San Nicolás neighborhood, in which the second lieutenant died, said Colonel William Quintero Salazar, commander of the Cúcuta Metropolitan Police.
In the middle of the shooting, patrolman Holman Farid Díaz Hernández was also injured. who was driving the patrol car in which they carried out the chase. The uniformed man was shot in the right shoulder, so he is recovering in a care center.
