The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, has put on the table an issue of great relevance for society: the debate around the age limit for criminal liability. In this sense, the Government is immersed in discussions about whether to set the limit at 14 years, follow the example of Uruguay with 13 years, or even consider the early age of 12, as Brazil does.

Bullrich has highlighted that this analysis is not carried out in a vacuum, but is examining how these policies have impacted the population of countries that have taken similar measures. In this sense, he emphasized the need to maintain imputability in serious crimes, such as murder, although he also emphasized the importance of implementing preventive and corrective measures for those who commit minor crimes, with the aim of preventing them from escalating to more serious crimes. .

In addition, the Minister of the Security Portfolio highlighted the existence of international agreements that establish limits on penalties, to which Argentina is linked through its Constitution. This legal aspect is also fundamental in the debate on criminal liability and must be considered in the formulation of public policies in this area.
