The province of Chaco, represented by the Minister of Production and Sustainable Economic Development, agronomist Hernán Halavacs, and the Undersecretary of Agriculture, agronomist Oscar Pascual, participated this Wednesday, May 8, in the “II International Cotton Seminar, the cotton production in Spain and Argentina, past, present and future”, which was held in the auditorium of the Municipal Cultural Center of the City of Avellaneda, province of Santa Fe, organized by the Association for the Promotion of Cotton Production (APPA).
The meeting was attended by the president of APPAA, agronomist Cristian Zorzón, the president of the National Cotton Center of Spain (CAN) and vice president of the Committee for International Co-operations Between Cotton Associations (CICCA), Mr. Josep Artigas, the international consultant in raw materials, former president of AFCOT and former general director of WECAFC France, Dr. Georges Toby, as well as national, provincial and local authorities.
The call, in addition to Hernán Halavacs from Chaco, was also attended by the Ministers of Productive Development of Santa Fe, Gustavo Puccini, and of Santiago del Estero, Miguel Mandrile, who did so in the company of their collaborators and respective technical teams.
During the development of the conclave, different current cotton issues in Spain and Argentina were addressed, and at the end a tripartite agreement was signed between APPA, the CAN and the Argentine Cotton Chamber (CAA), which establishes an exchange of knowledge to improve access to the international markets for cotton production in the region, including Chaco, and continue working on the competitiveness and sustainability of textile production.
“It was a very important meeting due to the variety of topics addressed on cotton production, which for us is an emblematic crop, and due to the quality of the exhibitors, who reflected the current events of the sector,” said Minister Halavacs.
