Due to the large number of landslides that have occurred on roads that lead to the paths and areas surrounding Ibagué, Humberto Orjuela Rozo, Secretary of Agriculture and Social Development, announces that the yellow machinery is falling short to immediately attend to the emergencies.

“Given this serious situation that is occurring, there is no machinery that is enough,” Rozo mentioned.

The main risk areas that Rozo identifies are the high areas of Ibagué, which due to the geography of the soils have fragile characteristics as they are made of sandy material. Pointing out that the roads that lead to the paths and townships such as San Juan de la China, San Bernardo, Laureles, San Rafael and many others are the ones with the greatest possibility of damage.

“The San Bernardo and San Juan de la China corridor has collapsed with a fairly immense number of landslides”: Humberto Orjuela Rozo, Secretary of Rural Development.

Finally, Rozo points out that they will have two more machines to promptly respond to the different incidents of landslides throughout the municipality.
