The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) called a national strike for this Thursday, May 9, so different services will not be available, such as transportation. Likewise, as the hours go by, different sectors are joining the paralysis of activities, such as education, banks, health, security, among others.

The general strike is promoted by the CGT and CTA, with the support of hundreds of unions and unions throughout the country. According to what they indicated, the demonstration is against the government of President Javier Milei and particularly, in rejection of the Base Law. This project has already received half a sanction in the Chamber of Deputies and must now be discussed in the Senate for its full approval. In addition, they request refinancing in various areas, such as education.

Transport

One of the biggest concerns that the general population has is what will happen to public transportation. The Automotive Tram Union (UTA) at the national level confirmed that it will stop its activities this Thursday the 9th within the framework of the national strike decided by the CGT. From the province, delegates from the same union ratified the total strike so far, without services in both short, medium and long distance.

In this regard, the president of the Chamber of Automotive Passenger Transport Businessmen (Caemptap) Juan Manuel Fouce also referred. He told El Territorio that “so far, yes, there is a strike,” so the services would not work during the day this Thursday.

Schools and banks

In Misiones, the different teaching unions have already confirmed participation with a total stoppage of activities. The Union of Teachers of the Province of Misiones (UDPM) confirmed to El Territorio that accession is without assistance to the workplace. “In defense of public education and for greater educational financing,” is the motto for which they will stand during this day.

In the same way, other missionary unions confirmed their membership. The Union of Argentine Teachers (UDA) also called for a mobilization in the Plaza 9 de Julio in Posadas from 9 a.m. “Every day we are fighting for wages and decent working conditions and demanding from both the nation and the province what they deserve,” they maintained. A similar call for strike was given by the Alfredo Bravo Missionary Educators Union (Semab), which will join the classrooms without attendance.

The unions that bring together teachers in the private sector also called on their members to join, however privately managed schools will also open their doors. Regarding the force measure, the Ministry of Education indicated that due to the bus stoppage, the absence of students from either the public or private sectors is not counted.

For their part, bank employees also confirmed their participation. In this regard, José Luis Ruiz Moreno, general secretary of the La Bancaria Misiones union, told El Territorio that they adhere to the national measure “without presence in the workplace and without attention to the public.”

In the statement released, the union indicated that the measure will be taken by virtue of “the reinstatement of the income tax, in the face of a regressive labor reform that takes away rights from workers, in the face of reforms that punish retirees, in the face of the wave of layoffs and growing unemployment, in the face of the savage adjustment on those who have the least and in the face of a Base Law and a DNU that does not have a single measure in favor of workers. “We are united with our banking colleagues, we have communicated to the entire province, without attention to the public. We will see how the issue ends,” said Ruiz Moreno.

Health

Workers in the Health area have already been on strike since yesterday. The measure includes workers from the Ministry of Public Health of the province, Parque de la Salud and for the Ministry of Prevention and Addictions, “therefore covers all Caps, hospitals in Posadas, as well as those in the interior,” they indicated from the Association of State Workers (ATE).

However, as they indicated to this medium, they maintained that the Madariaga Hospital continues with its usual operations without being affected by the strike. “The workers have been complying with the measure without neglecting and guaranteeing minimum on-call attention,” they assured from ATE.

The discontent of health professionals comes after what was offered last week by the provincial government of a 16% increase, which was rejected, so they demand that the percentage exceed the value of the basic basket. Tomorrow the Province called a new meeting with the leaders to try to reach a new agreement.

Harvest

From the Board of Directors of the Union of Municipal Workers and Employees (Soemp), they reported the adhesion to the National Strike called for tomorrow, May 9, by the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), in congruence with the adhesion of the Confederation of Municipal Workers. “This is carried out in the full exercise of union rights and in accordance with National Law 23,551. Furthermore, it is remembered that the right to strike is an indispensable tool that the working people and the blue-collar worker have access to, protected by Article 14 of the National Constitution,” they highlighted.

In this way, public services will be affected by the paralysis of activities.
