The Secretary of Education of the Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta published a statement in which it referred to the situation that has been occurring with the non-compliance by the operator of the Aluna and Quinto Centenario mega-schools.

As this digital media has been denouncing, more than 160 teachers and administrative staff from the two institutions are demanding payment of at least two months in arrears, as well as due registration to the health system and ARL, which has not been fulfilled for part of the contractor, which is the International Bible Center church.

The Mayor’s Office reported that, in response to complaints from teachers and administrative staff, the Steering Committee of the District Education Secretariat met on May 6 to address this situation.

“In this meeting, representatives of the parents of the Aluna and Quinto Centenario IEDs participated, with the purpose of directly listening to their concerns. Among these, issues of a pedagogical and administrative nature and non-compliance with fees, benefits and social security for teaching staff, teaching and administrative directors stood out,” the Mayor’s Office explained.

From this meeting, the territorial entity expressed its “commitment to carrying out an exhaustive review of each of the issues raised. Likewise, it undertakes to subscribe to the respective improvement plan.”

In order to follow up on this issue, a meeting is scheduled during the first week of June, in which parent representatives will participate.
