In Santa Marta, Government of Change inaugurates the first ZASCA Reindustrialization Center with an agro-industrial vocation in the country

With the launch of the first ZASCA Agroindustrial Reindustrialization Center in the country, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and iNNpulsa Colombia seek to serve 40 entrepreneurs and MSMEs in the mango production chain.

The ZASCA Agroindustrial Center of Santa Marta has an investment of $2,397 million and operates in alliance with the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Marta for Magdalena and the Magdalena Regional SENA.

In development of the Government with Popular Neighborhoods conference led by President Gustavo Petro Urrego, held in Santa Marta, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, through iNNpulsa Colombia, welcomed the beneficiaries of the first ZASCA Reindustrialization Center Agroindustrial of the country.

There, the first group of beneficiaries, 40 entrepreneurs from the popular economy linked to the mango production chain, will have access to specialized machinery and innovation processes for the production of jams, pulps, dehydrated fruit, sandwiches, among other products that will become in an opportunity to increase productivity, optimize income and generate more employment.

This ZASCA Center, located in the Gaira Aquaculture and Agroindustrial Center, has as strategic allies in the region the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Marta for Magdalena and the Magdalena Regional SENA.

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Germán Umaña Mendoza, highlighted that these “Centers allow the promotion of the popular and community economy, as well as the links between micro, small and medium-sized businesses in the areas in which they are established.”

The senior official recalled that with this Agroindustrial Center “we advance in the Government of Change’s commitment to the reindustrialization of our country and to the productive units that have always been relegated in our economy, but that are the economic support of many Colombians who need support. to get ahead.”

The resources allocated for this first ZASCA Agroindustrial Center amount to $2,397 million and are contributed jointly by the allied entities.

“This first ZASCA Agroindustrial Reindustrialization Center marks a milestone for the region and the country. Taking into account that Santa Marta presents an average of 677 tons of mango production per year, through this space we seek for beneficiaries to add value to their product and find opportunities to enter new markets, thanks to innovation, technical support specialized, the use of machinery and business strengthening tools,” highlighted Hernán Ceballos, general manager of iNNpulsa Colombia.

In this way, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and iNNpulsa Colombia continue the commitment announced by the Government of Change to bring economic justice to the country’s territories, expand access to new markets to move towards a popular economy more powerful, associative and productive.

For her part, Silvia Elena Medina Romero, executive president of the Santa Marta Chamber of Commerce for Magdalena, highlighted that “this project is the result of the vision to forge a prosperous and sustainable future for all. From the Chamber of Commerce we reaffirm our commitment and hope that this Center contributes to promoting employment and reducing poverty and inequality in Magdalena.”

About the ZASCA Reindustrialization Centers

The ZASCA Reindustrialization Centers are an initiative led by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, through iNNpulsa Colombia, as part of the National Reindustrialization Policy. This strategy seeks to develop and strengthen productive units, microbusinesses and MSMEs of the popular economy, which share a productive vocation.

In addition to the first ZASCA Agroindustry Center in Santa Marta, seven ZASCA Centers for the fashion sector (clothing and footwear) have been launched in Bogotá in the town of Ciudad Bolívar and the 20 de Julio sector; Bucaramanga; Medellin; Cúcuta; Riohacha; Baranoa, Atlantic. Three ZASCA Renacer Centers also already operate in the national prison establishments of Ibagué, Espinal and Guaduas and a ZASCA Technology Center in the Cazucá sector of the municipality of Soacha.

The strategy of the ZASCA Reindustrialization Centers has a total investment of $117,290 million to launch, during the four-year period, 96 of these centers in the national territory and reach more than 16,100 beneficiaries between productive units and/or MSMEs, young people and people deprived of liberty.
