The First Agroindustrial Reindustrialization Center was inaugurated in Santa Marta

The main objective of the project is to provide support to entrepreneurs of the popular economy linked to the mango production chain.

In a joint effort between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and iNNpulsa Colombia, the first Agroindustrial Reindustrialization Center has been launched in Santa Marta. This center, located in the Gaira Aquaculture and Agroindustrial Center, aims to generate a boost in the department’s economy.

The main objective of the project is to provide support to entrepreneurs of the popular economy linked to the mango production chain. With a joint investment of $2,397 million from various allied entities, access to machinery will be provided specialized and innovative processes that will allow the production of a variety of products such as jams, pulps, dehydrated fruit and sandwiches.

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Germán Umaña Mendoza, highlighted the importance of these centers in promoting the popular and community economy, as well as in generating links between micro, small and medium-sized businesses in the areas in which they are established.

This center represents an opportunity to increase productivity, optimize income and generate more employment in the region. Hernán Ceballos, general manager of iNNpulsa Colombia, emphasized the importance of adding value to local products and seeking opportunities to enter new markets through innovation and business strengthening.

The Reindustrialization Centers are part of a broader initiative to develop and strengthen productive units, microbusinesses and MSMEs of the popular economy throughout the country.
