Five months after the start of the mandate of Javier Mileithe General Confederation of Labor (CGT) heads this Thursday, May 9, the second national strikewith the support of the majority of unions that have been experiencing a series of increasing tensions with the libertarian administration as a result of the adjustment policies implemented to leave the deficit behind.
The labor union is going for its second measure of force in just five months of libertarian managementwith the background of debate of the Bases Law in the Senate. At the venue, “sensitive” topics for union leaders are discussed, such as the flexibility initiatives included in the labor reform promoted by Milei.
The massive call generated weeks ago in the context of the Federal University March showed that the President’s chainsaw managed to unify various sectors and groups of different political orientation against the adjustment. The vast majority of unions will stop this Thursday, since the measure of force was called by the three centers, so you will feel strong during the day in almost all activities, without transportation or attention in public offices. Some activity is only expected in some commercial premises.
The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adornionce again criticized the CGT in the hours prior to the new measure of force and called the workers’ confederation “the fundamentalists of backwardness”in addition to ratifying that “state workers who stop work will be deducted for the day.”
The union members justified the strike by reject the policies of funding cuts to achieve surplus levels and in their opposition to the Base Lawwhich will seek to continue pruning in its imminent treatment in the Senate (especially the labor section), and the mega DNU.
“We cannot accept that everything is freed up and that salaries are expected to have limits. We are responsible union organizations and we are clear about the limits and possibilities of each sector to reach agreements,” argued the co-secretary general of the CGT, Hector Daer.

It is expected that the Government after this new strike will seek to once again build bridges with the moderate leaders who are strong in the Cegetista leadership, such as the “independents”, to continue exploring the future of a link that is seen as problematic due to the clear ideological and of paths to follow.
