Residents of the San José neighborhood demand better access roads due to accidents

The leaders of the San José village have been demanding an alternative route for between 12 and 14 years

This May 8, approximately at noon, an accident occurred in the San José neighborhood, where a cargo truck carrying cement and other materials for construction was involved.

According to the driver’s statements, the incident occurred while he was waiting for another truck to advance on the slope of the San José hill, however, halfway along the road the engine did not have enough power, it turned back and when braking the same load turned the car over.

In addition, he expressed that the state of the road was one of the risk factors that could have caused the accident. There were three people in the vehicle, none of them were seriously injured and they managed to get out easily with the help of the community.

For her part, the community leader of the San José neighborhood, Isabel Álvarez, stated that “it has been between 12 and 15 years asking the municipality of Sabaneta for immediate solutions at the head of the different mayors who have passed through the municipal administration, and also from the Plan Partial La Macana, headed by Mr. Henry Madrid, who is the person who today should be fully responding to the commitments of the expansion of the alternative route.”

A new road that communicates to the community of the San José village is what they request in order to solve traffic problems and reduce accidents like the one presented this May 8, since the slope through which vehicles and people must pass is dangerous.

This alternative route has been in process for years and the commitment on the part of the responsible entities has been little. The leaders request that the works be advanced in order to provide a safe route.
