The national shipyard that manufactured the Dra. Barbieri oceanographic and fishing exploration vessel, Asenav, obtained new recognition from the German Chamber of Commerce, AHK Chile, an organization that decorated the company with two AHK Chile 2024 awards: Innovation and Development in the category of medium-sized companies; and Impact and Transcendence.

The Innovation and Development award was awarded because of the Dra. Barbieri ship, as it was the first oceanographic research ship built 100% in Chile. The vessel, 30.8 meters long, 9 meters wide and 3.9 meters high, includes naval engineering solutions with the Asenav hallmark, such as a noise reduction system radiated into the sea and technology that facilitates both fisheries research as its operating system. Furthermore, with her draft of only 3 meters, she is capable of sailing in shallow waters.

The other award was in the Impact and Transcendence category, thanks to the contribution that the shipyard has made to promoting the industry, engineering and R&D actions that the company has promoted throughout its history.

Likewise, a special mention was also included for the company’s 50th anniversary in 2024.

The ceremony that recognized Asenav for the second consecutive year took place at the residence of the German ambassador, Irmgard Maria Fellne, a diplomat who was in charge of presenting the award together with Javier Rubio, Member of the AHK Chile Membership Committee. On the same occasion, the chamber also recognized the company’s 50-year history, as well as its contribution to industrial development and the promotion of R&D actions on Chilean soil.

In this regard, Germán Schacht, Business Development and Marketing Manager of Asenav, thanked both awards, emphasizing the company’s commitment to continue the legacy of its founder, as well as to maintain a vision that points towards energy efficiency and environmental protection. atmosphere.

“We are very proud to obtain recognition from an organization that is directly linked to Chile and Germany, because that is a sign that our solutions are of a high standard, both for the American continent and for Europe. In particular, the Dra. Barbieri ship, 100% built in our country, also stands out for its innovative solutions that stimulate investment in R&D in national territory. With this, we advance in our positioning as a partner strategic for companies anywhere in the world,” said Schacht.
