In the development of a joint and coordinated operation, the Military Forces captured alias “Firulais”, a dangerous leader of the “Clan del Golfo”, in the department of Chocó. The operation was carried out in the “Playa Potes” sector of the municipality of Bahía Solano.

The operation, developed by the Titan Joint Task Force in collaboration with the Police, arose after exhaustive intelligence work carried out by the Colombian Navy and the Air Force. In the confrontation, which broke out when authorities arrived at the scene, two men were captured while one lost his life.

Alias ​​“Firulais”, wounded during the combat, was identified as a prominent leader of the Jairo de Jesús Durango Restrepo structure of the “Clan del Golfo”. With a criminal history spanning more than 11 years. According to the authorities, he spread terror in the communities of Bahía Solano, Nuquí and Bajo Baudó, in addition to controlling drug trafficking routes on the Pacific coast of Chocó.

Alias ​​“Firulais” is accused of being responsible for various crimes and offenses, including the harassment of the Puerto Meluk Police and the forced displacement of more than 300 people in the community of Peña Azul. His capture represents a serious blow to the criminal activities of the “Gulf Clan” in the region.

During the operation, the authorities seized a pistol, ammunition of different calibers and communication equipment, elements that were delivered to the competent authorities.

This action adds to the efforts of the Titan Joint Task Force, which so far this year has captured 25 members of the criminal group, brought 32 more to justice and neutralized four in military operations.

The Military Forces maintain their commitment to protect the civilian population and will continue to deploy actions to weaken organized armed groups that threaten the security and development of the country.
